Shoppers Invade First IKEA Store In Florida
Ikea opened its doors on Wednesday and it seems that all South Floridians have gone nuts about it! My husband is already pouting thinking that soon we'll go explore this giant store but I am so excited! I was already bored with the same offerings at BB&B, Linens and Things, Sears, etc. Plus I like the clean lines of their designs and it's going to be a blast to see all their stuff!
This great catalog arrived with the morning paper and I have been eyeing their pretty tableware.
Just looking through the catalog I feel like I'm learning to speak Viking!!!

I want an IKEA! Enjoy shopping.
1Shi, you are going to have so much fun! Shopping there you can find SO much good stuff. But it is also funny- they def have their own way of doing things. They have their own cafeteria, which you should check out. You can usually get a full plate breakfast for $1 ( I think) and they serve lunch/dinner, and have a cafe with finger foods as well. People stay there all freaking day. But they make you clean up everything youself, bag everything yourself, take things out yourself, etc. to keep prices down.
They go Carazy!!!!!!!!!!
2People get INTO it. I love it but it's worth it just to people watch too.
yay for you. i am jelly. we don't have ikea here in hoosierland.
3what? Red you mean that I can spend the whole day there??!!!
If they have wi-fi I'll
be set, I'll just leave my hubby there while I go shopping... with his credit cards hahhahaa

"So many people came for the opening Wednesday that they were directed to park at the nearby Bank Atlantic Center and were taken by a dozen trolleys to the store."
We're crazy shoppers around here

I love and live IKEA!!! I swore by it when I was a single gal and had to fill an apt with stuff. Then the hubby and I loved it when we were first married and on a budget and we still love it with kids.. E's favorite place in the world (loves it more than ChuckECheese.. I kid you not!). hot dogs and lingonberry drink!! HA! Or Salmon and veggies for $4!! Forget about it! I love the duvet covers that cover bedspreads.. the duvet cover and two pillow cases for $25.. talk about a quick and cheap refresher for the bedroom! LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right now I am in love with the retro cofee table and mod looking couch and the the dining room (card table) where the chairs are cirular and dissappear into the table when not in use.. I so want a 60's/70's style game room!!! LOL!

7Arrg.. my links didn't load correctly.. with the sofa.. click on turquoise and then with the chairs click on multicolor with the cherries.. I love it!!
Crap I will create a blog showing my room!!!! LOL!
8IKEA is the truth! When we didn't have one here, we would drive 4 hours to go to one in Toronto - it is that serious. You should probably wait until all the excitement dies down otherwise you might get overwhelmed. We usually go on Sunday evenings because most people don't realize they stay open until 9, so it is pretty quiet after about 7. Have fun!
9Yeah, I wouldn't recommend going straight away. IKEA is usually packed on normal days...I wouldn't even imagine opening day. Have fun! And yes, you can easily spend an entire day at IKEA. Welcome to the big leagues, yo
10I LOVE IKEA!!
11Congratulations Shi, I wish I could have one here!
12Ikea is THE place. We have two in Jersey, one on Long Island, and the newest one is opening soon in Brooklyn, which I'm REALLY psyched about since that's where we're moving to!
13how be is your ikea shi? mine is enormous! and i LOVE it!
14big*
15how exciting!! i adore that place!! there are 2 in the Vancouver area - one is the first one in Canada and the other one is enormous!!! plus one in seattle, so i'm totally set for IKEA fun! yay!
with the dollar being about the same now it makes me want to skip across the
border and buy stuff in Seattle if only i could hide a bed inside my suitcase.
16Speak Viking.. bwahahahaha that place is the SHIZZ!!!!!!! It's so dangerous.. You go for one thing and come out with ten million items you weren't even aware you JUST HAD TO HAVE
Their stuff kicks booooo taaaaaaaaaay 99.9% of my furniture is from Ikea
17Shi, you can totally spend the day there. I bet you could get wi-fi or internet somehow. Just set hubby up in the restaurant or cafe with some swedish meatballs or a huge cinnamon roll and you're all set! Just make sure he won't leave without you!
18I'm so jelly!!! Have fun, doll!

19ooooo! We have one 5+ miles from our house. I have to go during the weekday or I get sensory overload and kind of freak out. But the cinnamon rolls smell sooo good.
20I highly recommend the $6 magnetic knife rack. It's easily the most useful thing in my kitchen, and it was about $20 cheaper than any others I saw. My sister just got new dishes (two sets of service for 4) for $20. Fun!
21Rox...
you're soo sillyy
22I love love IKEA

Ima I am LOVING the Ikea Stockholm and Lillberger lines!! I swear I just want to throw all my stuff in the trash and go buy everything new!!!! And their prices are unbelievable! I was checking out the catalog and their closets are so cool too! I have already told my hubby that I'll set him up with the laptop, a few dvd's, put him in a comfy chair with some munchies and I'll go look around and shop. He is already scared!!

I will wait though, there is NO WAY that I'll even attempt to shop now when it's such a novelty. The store is huuuuuge but still is is crowded for what I've heard. Plus we have all the tourists here that also come for the good shopping, all the regular malls are always packed and I can imagine that going to Ikea now would just be crazy.

I'm loving the IKEA commercial thats running here, with the little girl giving her parents instructions (role reversal).
26Have fun Shi!
I haven't even seen a commercial here Jinx. It's such a novelty that they don't even need to advertise it to bring customers in
