I never understood the American fondness for peanut butter. A long time ago I tried the Jif brand and I found it awful. But considering that it can be healthy in small doses, I decided to give it another try, and following my MIL's suggestion I got a "natural" version. AND NOW I LOVE IT!!! My hubby is even happier because I simply refused to buy something that was loaded with trans-fats before, but now he can have his PB too
Delicious and healthy. The Creamy kind has small bits of peanut, even the fragrance is yummy!
I also got this Four Berries preserves, made in the old style, just fruit, sugar and pectin, delish!
And another one in Apricot. PB&J sandwiches made with challah bread... yumm!
I also stocked the fridge with French and Swiss cheeses, pathé, Greek olives, and wines from Spain and Argentina. I usually am way more careful with my groceries budget but once in a while is good to indulge ourselves
Republic
My Mom used to get some at a bulk place, and you literally ground your own peanuts! lol
Welcome to the PB Club Shi!

I used to be able to make my own at Whole foods, and it was amazing. Just peanuts and nothing else... it was so good! I will have to try this!
3One of the grocery stores back home lets you make your own PB. Man PB&J sounds really good right now.
4Making your own PB sounds good... hmmmm I'm thinking PB&Nutella on challah bread...

Look for a Whole Foods Market in your area. You can make your own in the store. The rest of the store is awesome too. You will feel like you went to healthy grocery shoppers heaven
6I eat a peanut butter sandwich nearly ever day - just as an afternoon snack.
Semi off-topic, but did you know there was a band called Jif and the Choosy Moms?
7what? I heard those two (jif & choosy moms) connected in a tv ad but never heard of a real band... were they all moms? did the sing praises to PB?

i still have a hard time enjoy PB&J...
10I've never been all that into PB. But, we use Maranatha natural organic peanut butter for the kiddos, and I vastly prefer it to the super processed crapola.
Little tip for new natural PB eaters, turn your PB jar upside down. That way when you right it and are mixing the oil back in, the oil is on the bottom instead of on top making a mess.
11jennifer that is an amazing tip-thanks so much!!!
12You're welcome!
And, I should have said store it upside down.
13That's a great tip Jenn, I'm going to do it right now, thanks!

I LOVE peanut butter. I have a jar of organic peanut butter in the fridge and it is sooo good.
Once I was at my moms work and starving and I found a jar of peanut. I took a big scoop out and ate it. It was sooooooooooooooo disgusting. The peanut butter had turned rancid and tasted horrible. It also left a bad taste in my mouth for a week
In terms of jelly, my grandmother use to make homemade jelly/jam all the time. I refused to eat store bought jelly after having hers. After she died I was pretty sure that I would never have jelly again because her plum jelly was my absolute favorite. Then last month I spotted plum jelly in the store
I was so excited that I bought two jars.
Plum jelly is the BEST
15Welcome to the PB club
I buy it in bulk from machines that grind it fresh. There is
no reason to have a million additives in it.
It is a STRANGE food if you have not grown up with it. My dad and I were talking about it last week and the first time he had it he was seven and visiting a cousin that had been to the U. S. It creeped him out big time.
If you ever read the Lonely Planet USA guide there is a guide to USA culture and the Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich is one of the top five foods you must try.
16I love PB, but I can't eat it anymore. It makes me really sick now for some reason.
17ahhh welcome to the PB&J sammich club shi!!! I buy those brands you've listed, also try Polaner's jam
18the fruit preserves sounds yummy!!!
19Yumaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Have you had pumpkin butter? THey sell that shiz at TJs in the fall and throughout most of the winter until it sells out and its gooooooood
20Well not most of the winter.. they sold out almost a month ago now.
21Pumpking butter? never! I need to try that one too.
Kia, you're right about some foods that we grow up with and then for anybody else they just seem strange. I don't think I'll ever get my tastebuds used to sour cream and all those casseroles made with condensed creamy soups

Jess, I tried plum jelly a while ago in Chile at this hotel where every morning at breakfast they would serve a different kind of home made jelly. I loved it! I also remember their fig & orange jelly, and the papaya jelly yummmm
Polaner's, I'll remember that one MoMo!

Elijah loves pumpkin butter & cream cheese sandwiches.. sounds a little odd but they're totally yummy
24Those actually good, and I don't like cream cheese. Well, I like it after its been sweetened and added to whip cream for cheese cake.

You might like it then Whip because the pumpkin butter is sweet
26lol shi. I thought me & hubby were the only people on Earth who hated sour cream.

And on the flip side, anything smothered in creams, sauces, or cheeses I will inhale immediately
29hahahhaaa
The other day I saw this ad on a magazine, paid for by the Cheese Makers
Association or something, and there was the picture of a big field of broccoli, and at the bottom of the page it read "A vegetable this ugly deserves to be smothered in cheese"
Tru dat!

Ugggg and the texture! Mushy and crunchy like at the same time
35I really admire you for being able to eat the natural stuff. I was raised on Jif, so anything without hydrogenated oils tastes chalky to me!
36LOL RCL! Just knowing that a product is so unhealthy makes me not want to eat it. Hubby has high cholesterol and I rather keep myuself in good health so I'm very strict about that.
